What routers are not supported?

NOTE: We highly recommend downloading Surfshark apps to ensure the best performance, security, and hassle-free setup. At the moment, we have apps for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, Chrome, Firefox, Fire TV.

If the Surfshark VPN app can not be installed on your device, you can try setting up Surfshark Smart DNS feature. You can use Smart DNS on Apple TV (& other smart TVs), Xbox, and PlayStation.

If you want to set up Surfshark on your router, you won’t be able to do so on the following ones (or at least with their default firmware):

Usually, these routers do not support OpenVPN protocol or the WireGuard protocol by default. However, you should be able to set it up with custom DD-WRT firmware and protect your home network.

If you do have DD-WRT installed on your router, proceed on setting up OpenVPN on DD-WRT router or setting up WireGuard on DD-WRT router.

If your router supports a VPN client, setup is pretty easy. Check out our list of routers where you can find setup guides for most of them.

NOTE: Surfshark is not to be held responsible for any damage done to the router or void of warranty that could be caused by flashing your router.
