How to set up Surfshark Smart DNS for LG TV

In this tutorial, you will learn how to set up Smart DNS on your LG Smart TV. It’s a handy method that allows you to use some of the VPN functions on devices if you can’t install a VPN in the usual way. Smart DNS can help you access Disney+ and Hulu US streaming libraries worldwide.

You will need an LG TV and an active Surfshark VPN subscription, which you can purchase on Surfshark pricing page (Smart DNS is included in the price).

This guide will show you how to:

  1. Find your Smart DNS
  2. Set up Smart DNS on your LG TV

 Find your Smart DNS

  1. Firstly, go to Surfshark's Smart DNS page.

  2. You may need to log in to proceed to this page. In such case, enter your registered email address, then your password, and click Log In.

  3. There, you will find your Smart DNS addresses.

  4. If you do not see your Smart DNS addresses there, you most likely have not activated it yet. Click the Activate Smart DNS button, and activate Smart DNS. Or just follow our guide on activating Surfshark Smart DNS.

  3.  Go to Advanced Wi-Fi (or Ethernet) Settings

  4. Click the red EDIT button.

NOTE: You may notice that the IP address shown on your TV screen is different from the one that you have activated Smart DNS for. That is because you have activated Smart DNS for your external (public) IP address, but your TV only shows its internal (private) IP.

An Internal IP usually looks like this — 192.168.x.x and is only used for internal communication between different devices on your network. It is not visible publicly and does not affect the usage of Smart DNS, so you can ignore it and proceed with Smart DNS setup.Click_EDIT.png

  5. Uncheck Set Automatically.

  6. Enter the DNS address of one Smart DNS server. You have received 2 Smart DNS servers – it does not matter which one you enter here. They both work fine for US streaming services.

  7. Click Enter.

  8. Click Connect.

  9. Lastly, wait a few moments until your TV connects to the internet using Smart DNS servers. That should only take a moment.
