How to solve email issues while connected to Surfshark

In this article, we will go through the potential issue of being unable to send emails while connected to Surfshark.

We will look into solving this issue on the following email applications:

Outlook

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook, and select File.

  2. Select Account Settings.

  3. Highlight the account you want to change the outgoing port for and click Change.

  4. Click on More Settings.

  5. Select the Advanced tab and change the outgoing server port to 465. Additionally, you can try altering between SSL and TLS encryption, and click OK.

If the outgoing server port 465 didn't help you can try the 2525 port with or without TLS encryption, as TLS encryption support depends on the mail domain.

  6. Click Next.

  7. Microsoft Outlook will test your settings. When complete, click Close.

Thunderbird

  1. Open the Thunderbird client on your device.
  2. Select Account Settings from the Tools menu.
  3. Click on Outgoing Server (SMTP).
  4. Click Add, and a new window will pop up.
  5. Change the port number to 465, and in the Connection Security line, select SSL.
