How to troubleshoot Surfshark VPN browser extension issues

In this article, you will learn how to troubleshoot various Surfshark VPN browser extension issues.

We will cover the following:

  1. Extension connection issues
  2. Extension application issues

Extension connection issues

  1. If you are having trouble connecting, test if you can’t connect to various locations instead of just one.

  2. Make sure you don't have any active ad-block extensions or antivirus apps running. These other extensions can interfere with your VPN connection.

  3. Try disabling the CleanWeb feature. You can find the feature in the settings tab under CleanWeb settings.

    Toggle the Ad blocker off.

  4. Try out the Surfshark extension on a different browser. If you are using Chrome - try Firefox or Edge. The issue might be related to your browser instead of the extension.

  5. Try reinstalling the Surfshark VPN extension on your browser. See how to do it on Chrome or Firefox.

  6. Reinstalling the browser itself.

Extension application issues

  1. Make sure you have your antivirus applications (they can be extensions as well) or any ad-blockers disabled. These two are the main causes of extension issues.

  2. Try out the Surfshark extension on a different browser. If you are using Chrome - try Firefox or Edge. The issue might be related to your browser instead of the extension.

  3. Try reinstalling the Surfshark VPN extension on your browser. See how to do it on Chrome or Firefox.

  4. Reinstalling the browser itself.
